Frequently Asked Questions — Mexico Address Generator

What is a Mexican CURP?

The Clave Única de Registro de Población (CURP) is an 18-character alphanumeric code issued to all Mexican nationals and residents: 4 letters from name/surname, 6 digits for birth date, 1 letter for gender, 2 for birth state abbreviation, 3 letters from the remaining name parts, and 2 validation characters. Example: GODE561231HDFNML02.

How do Mexican postcodes work?

Mexico uses 5-digit Códigos Postales (CP). The first 2 digits generally correspond to the state: 01–16 = Mexico City, 44–45 = Guadalajara (Jalisco), 64–66 = Monterrey (Nuevo León). Postcodes were assigned by Correos de México and cover colonias (neighbourhoods).

What format are Mexican phone numbers?

Mexican phone numbers are 10 digits: a 2- or 3-digit area code (LADA) followed by the subscriber number. Mexico City uses 55, Guadalajara uses 33, Monterrey uses 81. Mobile numbers also use 10 digits (same format since 2020). The country code is +52.
