Random Name Generator FAQ
How are the random names generated?
Names are generated by randomly combining first names and last names from curated lists of common American names, weighted by real-world popularity data. Male and female first names are kept separate. The result is a statistically realistic full name that could belong to a real American โ but doesn't.
Are generated names real people's names?
Coincidences are possible (John Smith exists!), but names are not sourced from any real person database. Each name is constructed by independently sampling a first name and a last name, making exact matches with real individuals statistically very rare.
Can I generate names for specific genders?
The generator randomly assigns male or female names. Each generated profile displays the gender alongside the full name. If you need a different gender, simply click 'Generate' again or use the field-level refresh button next to the Full Name field.
What name-related fields does the generator provide?
Each profile includes a full name (First Last), gender, and age-consistent birthday. The name is also used to derive the email address (e.g., john.smith@gmail.com style), username, and initials shown on the ID card.
Can I generate multiple names at once?
Yes. Switch to Batch mode to generate up to 50 names (with full profiles) at once. You can download the results as CSV or JSON, making it easy to populate a test database, seed a demo dataset, or create sample user accounts.
What other generators are available?
FakeAddrGen also offers an SSN generator, credit card number generator, and complete identity generators for 14 countries including the UK, Canada, Australia, Japan, Germany, France, and more. All generators are free and require no sign-up.
